Come Along and Be Part of Your Community – Community Engagement Day
On Saturday 22nd August 2026, Kennington Town Council will be hosting a Community Engagement Day – an opportunity for residents to come together.
Taking place from 11am to 4pm at Spearpoint Pavilion and The Ridge, the day is all about bringing people together in a friendly, relaxed and welcoming environment.
Whether you have lived in Kennington for years, have recently moved to the area, or simply want to find out more about what is happening locally, everyone is welcome.
A chance to connect, share and get involved
Community Engagement Day is a chance to have a conversation with members of Kennington Town Council, meet other local residents and share your thoughts on the things that matter to you.
It is also an opportunity to discover more about the many activities, groups, organisations and community initiatives taking place locally – and to find out how you can get involved.
We know that every resident has their own experience of living in Kennington. You may have an idea for something that could improve the area, a concern you would like to raise, or perhaps you simply want to meet more people in your neighbourhood.
Whatever brings you along, your views, experiences and ideas matter.
What can you expect?
Throughout the day, there will be opportunities to:
Find out more about the work of Kennington Town Council
Discover local activities, groups and community initiatives
Learn about opportunities to get involved and volunteer
Talk to local organisations and find out what they offer
Play a part in shaping the future of Kennington
You don't need to prepare anything before you come along, and you don't need to already be involved with the Council or any local group. Just turn up, have a chat and get involved as much – or as little – as you would like.
Community is about people. It is about neighbours looking out for one another, sharing ideas, supporting local initiatives and creating opportunities for everyone to feel part of where they live.
Sometimes the best ideas come from the simplest conversations. A chat with a neighbour might spark an idea. Meeting a local group might lead to a new hobby or volunteering opportunity. Sharing a concern might help identify something that the Council can work on.
Community Engagement Day is about starting those conversations. Most importantly, we want the day to be enjoyable. Come along for a little while or stay for longer, meet people, find out what is happening locally and enjoy being part of your community.
So, whether you are coming with a question, an idea, a friend, a family member – or simply a bit of curiosity – we would love to see you.
