Councillor Ellie Crook Receives Mayor's Achievement Award 

 

Kennington Town Council is delighted to congratulate Councillor Ellie Crook on receiving the Mayor's Achievement Award, a well-deserved recognition of her outstanding dedication to the community and the positive difference she continues to make across Ashford. 

 

Ellie was nominated by Councillor Diccon Spain, with the nomination supported by Councillor Paul Bartlett. The award recognises her commitment to volunteering, community engagement and improving the wellbeing of local residents through a variety of initiatives and activities. 

 

Over recent years, Ellie has become a familiar and respected figure within the local community, consistently giving her time and energy to projects that bring people together and promote a stronger, more supportive neighbourhood. Her passion for helping others and her willingness to champion important causes have made a lasting impact on many residents. 

 

In presenting the award, the Mayor recognised Ellie's dedication to public service and her efforts to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing. Her work has helped encourage important conversations within the community and highlighted the value of supporting one another. 

 

Among the initiatives Ellie is currently involved in is a fundraising campaign to bring Ashford's first Suicide Prevention Bench to the borough in partnership with the charity Legend on the Bench. The project aims to create a welcoming space that encourages people to pause, connect and talk. The Mayor also demonstrated his support by making a personal donation of £100 towards the campaign. The fundraising effort has already received strong backing from local residents and supporters, with over £1,200 raised towards the project so far.
